NETWORK SECURITY ENGINEER

The Network Security Engineer will provide information network and application security operational expertise while collaborating with other information technology engineers and developers. This team is responsible for administering information security applications and network systems in a large distributed enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide operations and engineering support for critical network and application security systems and services such as;
  • Intrusion detection/prevention
  • Data leakage prevention
  • Content filtering
  • Firewall compliance
  • Vulnerability and security event management
  • Ensure information network security design, plans, controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures are aligned
    with generally accepted IT security practice and standards and the overall IT security approach of our primary technology partners.
  • Serve as an escalation point, providing outstanding customer service through timely, high quality issue resolution.
  • Proactively maintain, monitor and improve our network and application security with a focus on service excellence
    and timely incident detection and response.
  • Partner with business and technical teams to design, deliver and maintain highly available, performance and cost effective
    network and application security system and services.
  • Write and contribute to project plans, author network and application security engineering level documentation,
    and develop detailed test plans.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with our internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
DUTIES
  • Troubleshoot systemic issues, document the results, and work to resolve problems
  • Assist with projects or research regarding network security, as assigned
  • Administer IT Security programs as assigned
  • Participate in IT Security assessments, risk analysis and reporting
  • Respond to system administration requests regarding security policy or practice
  • Provide system or security awareness and related training as requested
  • Share in 24/7 on call responsibilities
  • Highly technical and hands-on work style is a must
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Extensive technical knowledge of network and applications security tools and systems.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities to get to the source of problems and think critically regarding possible solutions.
  • Proven leadership abilities including ability to share knowledge, resolve conflict and create consensus and to take
    the lead on the most complex projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and responsibilities.
  • Logical, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must display initiative, ability to work independently and be able to use extensive independent judgment.
  • Must display the highest level of critical thinking in order to weigh alternatives and present solutions that
    are consistent with the business strategy.
  • Proven, logical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work seamlessly within a team as well as manage individual tasks.
  • Ability to react quickly to a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Broad knowledge of Information Technology field and computer systems.
  • Ability to follow project plans as well as adapt to changing conditions.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree with major in computer science, mathematics, or engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Information Technology as a technical professional with line responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience with Microsoft Server enterprise-level platforms (Preference given to candidates
    with certification credentials in Microsoft Server OS)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing network and application security administration services in a mission critical environment.
  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of IP Networking, web technologies, network security tools and standard practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of intrusion detection/prevention, NextGen firewalls, VPN, data loss prevention, data encryption,
    SIEM appliances, and multi-factor authentication systems.
  • Experience developing and instituting network security and incident response operational policies and procedures
    at an enterprise level.
  • Understanding of advanced security protocols and standards, including a demonstrated ability to perform complex analysis
    including producing metrics.
  • An ability to learn new technologies and adopt new information security tools.
  • Cisco or SANS network security certifications preferred (CCNP security and/or GIAC Security Administration).
